Lead Water Filters: Their Types And Uses

Lead Water Filters: Their Types And Uses

Lead is both a useful and harmful substance, depending upon its exposure or intake quantity. A high degree of exposure to lead can cause weakness, brain and kidney trauma, anemia, and sometimes death. Nowadays, lead has become a part of our intake as it comes dissolved in our tap water.

Lead doesn’t naturally occur in water usually but gets into the water through lead water pipes and jointures which are the primary contributor to a high degree of lead levels in the tap water.  Therefore, willingly or unwillingly we all consume lead.

There are several types of filters available in the market which can effectively reduce lead levels from water but before using them you should check NSF certification given to filters after checking their quality and standards. Below are given the top six types of water filters which can help you to get lead free tap water in your house, these are as follows :

  1. RO Filters

Reverse Osmosis (RO) filters can eliminate 94%to 97%  of lead contaminants from water. This percent of lead removal is enough but not perfect to use as some amount of leaves will still be left. You can add some activated carbon cartridges to the RO filtered water to get 100% lead-free water.

  1. Filter Pitchers

Regular filter pitchers also lessen the Infection control water in the water to a great extent. These use activated carbon based on coconut and ion exchange wax, thus being cheaper, portable, and energy-efficient.

  1. Faucet Mount Units

Faucet mountain units not only remove lead contaminants from water but also remove other contaminants like a microbiological cyst, disinfection byproducts, mercury, chlorine, and many pharmaceutical pollutants.  These units run on the pressure of the water running out from the tap.  The pressure per gallon should be a nice 50 scale for the filter to operate otherwise you will need to install a water pump across the main water line to increase the pressure.

  1. Complete House Filters

These filters are installed at the main entry point of the mainline which supplies water to the entire house’s taps. These purifiers are very effective and reduce essential levels of both lead and iron pollutants from water.

  1. Showerhead Filters

Lead doesn’t harm the body internally but also affects externally. It can damage your hair, skin, and nails badly. Dialyzer filters special methods to remove lead from the hot water and thus you can bathe freely without worrying about the lead getting into your skin and scalp.

  1. Inline Water Purifiers

Under-counter, purifiers use a unique filtration method and not the reverse osmosis process. These can remove almost all the lead pollutants from water and have the facility of temperature control which restricts the lead to concentrate in the vessels or pipes. These are cheap and easy to install because of their inline features.

There are many traditional ways with which you can filter lead but they aren’t as effective as these Dialysis Quality Water. Traditional methods are so much time taking. Lead is a serious health and environmental hazard, it should not be taken up lightly!
